The desk behind Northernookgames

Northernookgames started as a group chat of hockey fans who could not stop arguing about line combinations in browser managers. Somewhere between debating free-agent signings and comparing practice plans, we realized we were effectively reviewing these games already, so we started writing it down properly.

We focus on hockey and multi-sport managers because that is where our hearts are, but we also cover basketball, motorsport and football managers that share the same appeal: running a club rather than playing the shift. Every game on our shortlist is free to play in a browser, and every review comes from real league weeks.

Our writing is shaped by Canadian winters. Long evenings, early sunsets and a national obsession with hockey make the browser manager a natural hobby here. We write for readers who want to know how a game fits their week, not just what features it lists.

We keep the shortlist small on purpose. Six games, played properly and revisited regularly, are more useful than a catalogue of dozens skimmed in an afternoon. When a game changes meaningfully, we replay it and update our view.

01

Played, not skimmed

Every review comes from a fresh club and genuine league play across several weeks. We report what we saw, and when we could not confirm a detail, we describe the experience instead of inventing a figure.

02

Time is the real currency

We judge each game by how it fits a real working week. A brilliant manager that demands three hours a night is not the right recommendation for most readers, and we say so plainly.

03

Rankings follow the scores

The order on our pages comes from our four criteria. Partner links help fund the site, but they never move a game up the list, and we will drop a partner game that slips.
